PCB Assembly for Space Hardware

Space programs move fast in development and can't afford surprises in qualification. BSU builds NPI and production boards, cables, harnesses and box builds for space hardware teams, including hardware for satellites and lunar landers, with an engineer reviewing every design for manufacturability before the build.

What space teams get

IPC Class 3 builds and inspection • 5D X-ray, 3D AOI and flying probe test • ITAR registration, with controlled data handled only by authorized U.S. persons • domestic-only component sourcing when required • no minimum order, so small lots are welcome.

Built for the failure modes that matter in flight

Large BGAs are X-rayed for voiding, bridging and head-in-pillow. Paste volume, area and height are measured on every print with Koh Young 3D SPI. Mixed SAC/SnPb assemblies are profiled with thermocouples placed to capture the spread between large and small parts. Lot and serial traceability is held in E2 ERP, so a suspect lot can be found and quarantined.

Proof

BSU has built and inspected roughly 300,000 IPC Class 3 placements on a 28-layer mixed RF and digital antenna command-and-control board in 3 weeks from full kit, and 93 34-layer boards with 3,515 components each, all of which passed final inspection and test. See the case studies at bsuinc.com/case-studies.

Speed for development programs

Quotes take 3–5 business days. Rev A/B turns take days when parts are available, and typical delivery is 2–6 weeks, with partial and rush options.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. BSU builds NPI and production PCB assemblies, cable harnesses and box builds for space hardware teams, built and inspected to IPC Class 3.

Not yet. BSU operates an ISO 9001 certified quality system, builds to IPC Class 3 for mission-critical programs, and is ITAR registered, with ITAR work handled only by U.S. persons. Many new-space, drone and defense-tech teams qualify us on that basis plus a first article build. If your program flows down AS9100 as a hard requirement, tell us early and we'll walk you through how we meet the underlying controls.

No. BSU builds single prototypes, small NPI lots and production runs.

Yes. BSU is ITAR registered with the U.S. Department of State (DDTC), and controlled technical data is handled only by authorized U.S. persons. Domestic-only component sourcing is available.
